December Updates and Videos!

Brynn Updates:
-She is now 2 1/2 years old! At her well visit, she weighed in at 35 lbs. (95%tile) and was 38 in. tall (95%)!
-Brynn is still quite the monkey and climbs on everything! She really liked investigating the Christmas tree and we would turn around and see her standing on the arm of the couch multiple times every day.
-Always asks, "What does ________ say?" And she'll fill in that blank with anything from Mommy, Daddy, Adrienne, a duck, a character from a show, Arwen (our cat), etc.
-Brynn would never tell me a specific present she wanted from Santa, she just wanted "green" presents.
-Anytime it snows, she calls it the north pole outside.
-She's learning that numbers have meaning when she's counting. It's really cute when she makes it past 10 and an "eleventeen" slips in there ;)

Adrienne Updates:
-She turned 6 months old and now weighs 17 lbs. 4 oz. (77%tile) and is 27 in. tall (90%tile)! It's nice having their birthdays so close to each other, so I was able to make one appointment for both girls!
-She's becoming much easier to spoon feed. It took a few weeks of practice and her spitting most of it back at us, but now 99% of what goes in her mouth stays in her mouth. We've made it through all of the single 1st foods and have moved on to 2nd/mixed foods. She really seems to prefer the vegetables over fruits and her favorites so far are carrots, sweet potatoes and green beans, but she's slowly not seeming so shocked by the sweetness of the fruits.
-We started breaking her car seat sleeping habit at the beginning of the month and it went much smoother than I was expecting with little crying. One thing we realized out of this is that she definitely prefers to sleep on her belly and has a much more restful sleep that way. In other sleeping news, she's down to 1-2 naps a day and readily accepts a pacifier to help calm her down for sleep (something she didn't do the first 5 months!)
-She can now rock on all fours and scoot across the floor (mostly backward) and sits very well on her own.

Christmas:
-My parents wanted to get the girls what I would call frilly Christmas dresses and I politely declined (I think I'm still scarred from being forced to wear itchy tights as a child!) so they got Adrienne the complete opposite of a Christmas dress as a joke. So, if you see Adrienne wearing a camo outfit in the video, that's why! ;) Thanks, Mom and Dad!
-Aside from a couple traffic jams, we had an easy drive to and from OH. We found the key to be leaving really early in the morning so the girls sleep for a couple hours at the start of the trip. As always, the visit home was really nice and very busy! We saw many family members from both sides and are truly thankful for how lucky our girls are and everything they received. We had a packed car on the way home!
-Just like last year, we wanted to spend Christmas Eve/Day in our own home. We had nowhere to drive and nowhere to be, just took our time and relaxed at home with Brynn and Adrienne. Brynn really took her time on Christmas and didn't finish opening presents from Santa until 4:30 in the afternoon!

Other:
-We had a very quiet New Year's Eve and were in bed by 9:30. A lot changes when you have kids ;)
-I have had home improvement on the brain recently. I hope to have plenty of updates and photos to share this coming year ;) Ben says he gets nervous when he sees me around the house with my tape measure!

Here's to a safe, happy, and healthy 2011! Cheers!
