Brynn Updates:
-She's been an excellent big sister- always giving Adrienne plenty of hugs and kisses, always tells her "it's okay" when she's crying, handing me diapers
-She very much acts like a two-year-old with the tantrums and meltdowns, mostly when we won't let her watch more tv, but Ben's had to carry her kicking and screaming out of the store before. Luckily instead of people looking at us like we can't control our child, they all say they totally understand. And she lets us know that she "needs" things "now!"
-After getting used to holding Adrienne, Brynn feels like she's gained 20 pounds and looks so much more like a big girl ;)
-We recently asked her what else she would like for her afternoon snack and she replied, "Grahams, marshmallow, and chocolate!"
-Her new favorite show is Wonder Pets! It's about a guinea pig, turtle, and duck that save animals and sing the WHOLE episode. I can't stand it, but she loves it!
Adrienne Updates:
-Like Brynn, she took to nursing extremely well and is a very good eater. We've been trying to get her used to an occasional bottle recently so I can have a break at times, but she'll only take the bottle from me which kind of defeats the whole purpose. We'll keep working on that.
-She's also a good sleeper- the first couple of weeks I was having to set an alarm to wake her up in the middle of the night to eat, then got the okay from the doctor to stop when they saw she was gaining plenty of weight. On average she wakes up once in the middle of the night and immediately goes back to sleep after a dry diaper and feeding, but she slept through the night the first time last week (9pm-5am)! She slept through the night for the second time last night, so I'm hoping this will become the trend ;)
-We got those first real smiles over the weekend!
-She's been handling tummy time much better than Brynn ever did and has a super strong neck to prove it. The doctor was very impressed with how high she was lifting her neck and turning her head side to side at her one month check-up.
-One month stats: 11 lbs. 3 oz. (95th percentile) and 22.5 in. (94th percentile) We thought Brynn was a big girl, but Adrienne is the size at one month that Brynn was at two months!
-We are really realizing how nice it was to have a one story house in SC with newborn Brynn. I'm constantly going up and down the stairs and having to plan my trips.
- I've also been getting plenty of use out of the baby carrier, more out of necessity than anything. That way if Adrienne wants to be held I can still make Brynn some breakfast and put dishes away while keeping her happy ;) I'm SuperMom!
Other Updates:
-Our patio project is complete for now. We finished it up just in time (two days before Adrienne was born!) Ben will be planting grass and we'll be finalizing how we want to finish the dirt areas this fall.
-We had a very relaxing 4th of July with my parents in town and got to make homemade ice cream and grill some delicious steaks and corn on the cob! We got a pleasant surprise that evening as well... there was an amazing view of fireworks that we got to enjoy on our new patio!
-Ben had been reorganizing the garage lately too because he was still in "project mode" after everything we've done this spring/summer, but now that it is complete, he couldn't believe there was nothing he had to work on last weekend and is looking for other things to do ;)
And for those of you who know my mom and haven't seen this yet!
