May and Hilton Head Pictures and Videos!

May and early June has been extremely busy wrapping up the school year and going on vacation!  Lots of updates, extra videos, and plenty of pictures to see what we've been up to!

Brynn and Adrienne:
So tired from Mother's Day errands!

I combined their Mother's Day presents from school: Brynn grew grass in a cup and Adrienne made the flower :)
So cold on the last day of school!  They were trying to stuff their hands in their sweatshirts.

One of our neighbors hosts an ice cream party every last day of school!

Paul and Easton came for a visit!

Brynn:
Field Trip to the farm!

My friend was a chaperone and sent me a lot of great pictures!

First grade picnic was held indoors since it was cold and wet outside.

Being silly!

Brynn's friend, Olivia

Officially a 2nd grader!!

Adrienne:
Testing the strength of our new blocks.

4th and final Happy Apple Mother's Day Tea Party
All the girls from her class

Running errands while Brynn was still in school!
Kindergarten Orientation with her friends!
Last day of preschool!

We sure are going to miss Mrs. Palarino!  She's has been Brynn and then Adrienne's teacher for the past 4 years!
She's a kindergartener!!

Other:
Groundhogs can climb trees!

Getting our stations set up for Mommy's Night Out painting night.

My old neighbors!

My good mommy friends :)

Hung my "Corks and Canvases" painting right next to Brynn's "Cookies and Canvases" painting... in my closet ;)

Fire Pit Project:  As you probably know by now, Ben and I love home projects.  A fire pit was not in our plan this summer (or the next couple summers), but we started discussing it a few weeks ago, and then within a few days, we had a huge hole in our yard and we were ready to get started!
BEFORE
We measured and dug out where we wanted the circle and kept our fingers crossed we could talk to the landscapers across the street.
Got 'em!!
Look how hard Ben and my dad worked ;)
Fine tuning the mud pit.

Added the french drain and landscaping tarp.

We had a large amount of "paver base" dropped off directly in the circle.
Our pile of supplies ready to go!

The first row of the wall always takes the longest to make sure it's perfectly level.  It took 4 of us about 3 hours just to lay 14 blocks.  The next two rows took a half hour.
Rented the power tamper!

Spread an inch of leveling sand and then began to lay the pavers.

Tamp again!

We filled in the circle to help keep everything in place during the tamping process.
Removed the center rows to add the fire pit.

Sunny at this point, but we got rained on a lot during wet saw day.  Cut all the bench/wall caps to fit.

Added polymeric sand in between all the pavers.  Starts out dry, then you go through a misting process to moisten the sand multiple times, which then hardens over the following 48 hours.

Final product!!!

Ben getting his first fire going!

Had some friends over to help break it in!

Hilton Head Vacation:  Pictures are not in order from the week, but I went through and picked a few of our favorites!
Day 1!!  Hanging out on the balcony with B!
Uncle Ben and Ellie

Ben's shirt had a perfect pocket for the Crown.

Grandad tending to Adrienne's booboos.

Balcony chess match.

Came home from dinner and found them like this.

Checked on them a couple hours later...

Adrienne and Mommom

Cousin Beki and her family were in HH at the same time!

Goggle ears.

Brynn LOVES the water slide.

Perfecting their putt.

Relaxing in the pool.

These long-sleeved suits saved them from sunburns last week!

Watch out, John!!

Annual photo shoot

Cousins!

No hands!

Brynn was "mad!!"

They did pretty well for not wanting their picture taken.

B chose this location.

Ben was so happy to share his "Last Night on Earth" zombie board game with LeAnn and Barrett.

The whole Darland clan

Ben caught a lizard with his bare hands!

Ben told A&B to "poke it with a stick."

I love how they color-coordinated without even trying.

Inspecting a little fish from the tide pool.

Little crabs were down in the mud.

Golf carts are always available if you have a long walk!

Adrienne took this picture!
